Inquiry

Inquiry

This term in Inquiry we are answering  the question "How does life change?"

IGNITE

We had Ollie from CSIRO come out and visit us to ignite our thinking. Have a look at the link below to see what activities we did.

Igniting our thinking with Ollie

After this we had lots of questions about energy and  the earth. These are some of the websites we have visited.

We got to be scientists, musicians and actors to show our learning about how life changes for a plant. Check out our music compositions about the life cycle of a plant by clicking on the link below...

In Inquiry Stage 1 have been investigating the fertile question “How is our world changing?”After talking and drawing about what we knew about change there were three main questions we wanted to answer to help us answer our big question.
Miss Geracitano’s Group
1. How has the weather changed?
To answer this we worked together in our Inquiry group to find out “What is the weather?” and “What changes the weather?”
Here is our thinking and learning about weather and “Mother Nature”.

We then wondered, “What does the weather have to do with dinosaurs becoming extinct?” and  looked at an artwork by Peter Arnold called “Mass Extinction”
We talked about the colours, shapes and things we could see in the artwork. It showed us the artist’s theory about what happened to the dinosaurs. We also wondered why artists create artworks.
We came up with our own theories answering the question “What did it look like when the demise of the dinosaurs began?” Here are our 2D visual art responses to that question. We used oil pastels to create our background and focused on the use of colour. We then used line drawings to draw our dinosaurs. Here are our artworks.
